Ellen Allien

Ellen Allien (born Ellen Fraatz) is a successful electronic musician, music producer and music label owner (Bpitch Control). She lives in Berlin, Germany, but travels extensively. She sings in both German and English. She has said that one of the main inspirations for her music is the culture of reunified Berlin; her album “Stadtkind” was dedicated to the city.

1989 Allien lived for one year in London where she first came into contact with electronic music. When she later returned to Berlin, electronic music had become increasingly popular in Germany.
1992 she worked in the “Fischlabor” where she got interested in DJ-ing. She later became a resident DJ there and also laid down tracks in the ‘Bunker’, ‘Tresor’, and the ‘E-Werk’. At around the same time, she started her own show on the Berlin radio station Kiss-FM and created her own record label, calling them both “Braincandy.” Due to discrepancies with distributers, she gave Braincandy up again in 1997 and instead, organized parties under the name “B Pitch”.
1999 Allien created the label Bpitch Control. With publications of Sascha Funke and Tok Tok the label became very successful.
2001 Allien released her first album: Stadtkind (City Child);
2003 album Berlinette, in collaboration with Apparat (aka Sascha Ring)
2005 Allien released Thrills.
2005 Allien created a bpitch sub-label for minimal tech and minimal house, called : “Memo Musik”, first artists are Ben Block, and Zander VT

World's End Girlfriend

World’s End Girlfriend is a Japanese composer whose work blends complex sound structures with beautiful melodies, reaching from electronic glitch to jazz-infused rock to modern classical. Captivating, enthralling and like nothing you’ve heard before, WEG makes for a surprising yet central addition to London contemporary music label Erased Tapes.

His brand new album ‘SEVEN IDIOTS’ will finally be released outside of Japan this April. Shifting seamlessly from catchy pop hooks to elaborate orchestrations and brutal IDM drones, it’s an irregular pop album – filled with twists and turns that will have you reaching for the repeat button. At first recorded with vocals, he took the unusual composing method of building up the songs before erasing all of their vocal parts. By dismantling and re-constructing each track, WEG has produced a genre-defying album that truly transcends categorisation.

World’s End Girlfriend hails from Nagasaki Kyushu, Japan and currently resides in Tokyo. Fascinated by his father’s classical music collection, he began his foray into sound at the tender age of 10, creating his early compositions on keyboard, guitar, tape recorders and computers. To date he has composed more than 600 songs, for the most part unreleased testaments of his early experimentations.

Daniel Innala Ahlmark

Daniel Innala Ahlmark is a computer science and engineering student from Sweden who likes to compose and listen to instrumental music. His style is not that easy to define, but think of piano instrumentals from Jim Brickman, and you get the idea. Though most of his pieces are piano instrumentals, some are a bit more experimental, and some are electronic pieces inspired by the golden era of 8bit video games.

Barefoot truth

In the small New England town of Mystic, Connecticut, lives Barefoot Truth, an independent band that is quietly creating history. You have never seen them on MTV, nor heard them on a Top 40 FM radio station, but with over 7 million spins on Pandora, Barefoot Truth has quickly become a symbol of independent music success, and just may be ‘the biggest band you’ve never heard of’. Mixing the sounds of folk, rock, jazz, and reggae, with lyrics full of unbridled optimism, the band has crafted a sound that is distinctly Barefoot Truth.

Since the band’s establishment during college, Barefoot Truth has been developing this signature sound that has virally spread through a grassroots following. With their lead singer on drums, and an array of unlikely roots-based instrumentation, the band translates their originality to their ever-evolving live show. The quintet features Will Evans on lead vocals and drums, John Waynelovich on piano, Jay Driscoll on Weissenborn slide guitar, Andy Wrba on upright bass, and Garrett Duffy on harmonica. It is not unlikely for members of the band to switch instruments mid-show, or even begin playing a didjeridoo, adding to the dynamic of the band’s sound.

Mixing a strong environmental message with the lofty theme of humankind’s interconnectedness on their 2010 studio album ‘Threads’, Barefoot Truth reached #21 on the iTunes Rock Charts, momentarily stepping ahead of bands such as Dave Matthews Band and The Fray.

Candlestickmaker - Seeds

candlestickmaker was born and resides in Craiova, Romania. 23 years old, working full-time… fullest-time. His name – Alexandru M. Seidiu.

The first electronica sounds he’d ever heard and he can recall of were during the early ‘90s – Krrraftwerrrrk and Jarre… and Enigma too, thanks to his lovely dad. Not very influenced, though. A decade passed and he can remember staring at Aphex Twin videos – mid ‘90s-to-early-‘00s. Just that. Staring.

But producing music occurred after an older and wiser friend (there’s always an older and wiser friend in such stories) made for his 18th anniversary a DVD with indie & electro stuff – Wisp, Autechre, Aphex Twin… So, our youngster became interested in various electronica acts – and said: “I can do this shit!”. And eventually asked his older and wiser friend for some piece of software for music creation. The big crash (or clash?) produced and it was called Ableton Live 5.

Achievements and things to be proud of – 8000+ profile views on MySpace, 1000+ pageviews on deviantArt… Seriously, he considers his biggest achievement the moment when releasing a tune sounded good to himself and received good feedback from other people (not including friends here!). Also – playing shows in Romania (TMBase – 2007. The crowd was fantastic!).

Hobbies?… Beside music?… Hard to say… His girlfriend, cats, animals in general, graphic design (digital media), good food (he strongly believes he is a good cook), movies, reading useless pointless stuff, thinking that he’s such a special individual because he likes very neat stuff et cetera…
